Paypal sends the funds to the email address chosen by the sender.
Is it an email address you own or not?
What does it say on the senders paypal account ie pending/unclaimed with or without a cancel option or sent/completed or paid?

Indeed it is not an email address that I own - the email address used also belong to a person with the same name and surname. My email address however over the last 15 years have been same - PayPal has got my email address - my account was inactive - I activated everything again once my friend notified me of the transfer.
PayPal is no saying that the mistake is hers???
My question is - if it is a straight forward transfer of money then the recipient must have a PayPal account - if not then how can the money be "LOST" ... the money is somewhere and I need to find that.
Also if I have a valid PayPal account - even though it is inactive - why is this transaction not reflecting against my email.

I am not sure I follow you. The sender used the wrong email address - it was apparently suggested as a possible email address for me. I have a PayPal account - at the time of the transfer the account was dormant - I however activated my account with the assistance of Customer Services - they checked there is no funds transferred to my account.
How can one check funds against an email account that does not belong to you? The person that has the wrong email account has the same name as I -
We have tried to find her without success and also email her again without success. We are relying on her honesty.
