Can someone please inform me how to tell when your money is "safely" in one's account?
I ship my product pretty much within 1/2 hour of receiving payment , but I see from some letters here that people have the funds taken back by the buyer.
A tad disconcerting to me since I had no idea they could do that, thank you in advance for any info you can give me on this topic.

depends what you mean by taken back If you mean via a dispute or chargeback the answer is generally 45 days, BUT I did have a credit card chargeback claim that was around 3-6months old. Paypal did come through there, and they didn't get the money but they did put a credit card chargeback in.
If they don't make a claim in the first 2 weeks and don't contact you, it's probably fine.

I guess what I mean by "taken back" is , if I send them an invoice from eBay and they pay am I safe at that point to send thier product?
I understand I think that if they have a problem with my product then it can be disputed. I have no problem with that at all, if a seller is selling bogus crap or misrepresenting his product the buyer needs recourse , I just wasn't sure at what point I should send product. I guess I will do it once they have deposited the monies in my Paypal via an eBay invoice.
Does that make sense?
Thanks for info people.

In that respect the buyer cannot ever take their funds back and as soon as you receive cleared payment from them you should ship your item.
If they paid by echeque or bank transfer just make sure it's cleared. If you ship through paypal, you can't actually easily ship an item not cleared without overriding their system. If it says it's ok to ship within paypal, it is as far as payment goes. When you go to ship on the details page just look for the 'confirmed' or 'unconfirmed' under the address but most importantly if it is 'eligible' under seller protection.
then ship via Paypal guidelines +. double check their policy but if under $250 no signature is required, over 250 sig is to be seller protected.
if you are shipping to a very low ebay rating person (1-30), or look at the rating they leave others and if there are lots of negatives, or if you are shipping to an apartment, condominium dev (will have apt #) or an office (company name) and the value is high enough or you are worried, get a signature delivery as well. It's $1.5 in canada. For US you have to ship Xpress which is pricey.

Sorry....not true in my case.
Item $14.75
Paypal invoice clearly states 'OK to ship'....
Look at my feedback +3200 and 100%.
Buyers feedback +300 and 100%.
I processed the item, marked it paid, went for a walk and mailed the item.
When I go back home the funds had been reversed,
Over the next 50 days the item was paid for and reversed twice more.
Paypal's excuse........'I cannot prove shipping'.
Most customers will not pay for tracking info on orders under $100.00.
I agree, look at who you are shipping to....but the issue is....
Paypal said it was 'OK to ship' and it was not..................
now the problem is.....Do I continue to trust paypal and try to provide servcie to my customers or do I hold my shipments until I have the cash in my hands?
