Paypal keep taking Ebay fees without invoices or noification!

We have had a Paypal account for some years. Recently decided to sell items on Ebay, and an attempt was made to take listing fees (through Payal) without an invoice, or nofication until after the fact. So we stopped the Direct Debit because of that abuse. Now Paypal has taken the fees again through our debit card, also without telling us via invoice until AFTER the fact. This has messed up our montly banking, and we will now have to pay some charges. Where can we find where fees are due (i.e. what date), and why are we not allowed to pay these ourselves!?

Secondly, some items for which these fees have been charged, were bought from us by people that live in the same country, yet there were Payal transaction fees taken (at source) when payment for these items were made. Why would this happen if these people live in the same country?

In contacting Payal about both these issues, through our Paypal account, we recieved an auto-response email that listed a whole miriad of unrelated advice (noneof which answered the specific questions above!) and thus we had to type out the whole query for help and assistnace with the above issues all over again! Why does Paypal deliberately waste peoples time by providing unrelated nonsense to specific enquiries?

Can anybody help us without the need to ring Paypal....(which is also needlessly long-wnded, and sometimes requires peaking to people who cannot articulate the langage effectively), as the Paypal representatives seem to only reply in a pathetc 'scripted' manner like muted robots!?

Any help, gratefully appreciated!

You can view your ebay account invoice anytime you want by clicking on the account tab in your my ebay.

You can pay before its due by clicking on "one time payment" and pay early if you want.

Failing that ebay normally will take your payment the same day most months.

Not sure what you are talking about re fees for folks in the same country???? You pay a fee to list an item and another fee if it sells........does not matter who buys it or what country they are in.

Thank you for the reply, we really appreciate it.

...But The invoice does not DATE when the attempt to take the money will be, and we cannot get an answer to this. Also, by law, (depending on your country) an invoice allows you 28 days (minimum) meet the obligation. The first attempt to take from our account for this was 14 days ago....and as not wil this morning....on each occassion not telling us until AFTER the fact.  So the premise that the money might be taken on the same day does not fit your kind advice in this instance, and there is no data to say WHEN invcoices are due for our account, though they could easily put it in their invoices, should they be bothered to do the normal thing of invoicing in advance of payment. It is, at the very least, a courtecy, yes!?  Alsoby the 'Good and Services Act' for which take the fees, they are obliged toi invoice in advance of requesting/demanding and taking payment. Paypal seems to work it's own convenience (much like Ebay) and feels it is above the law.

What about the question of fees being charged at source for items bought by people living in the same country? I thought that was free? Where has noney gone???

Best regards....and thanks for your good work as a volunteer 'Paypal Helper' in these matters.

From ebay help pages.

The payment due date is determined by the date eBay generates your invoice (either the 15th of the month or the last day of the month). For information on payment requirements, late fees, and payment schedules, see Your payment processing and due date.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/pay-fees.html

Its not an invoice it is a bill that you agree to pay when billed and you have to read ebay or paypals user agreement to see they are.legally allowed to do this as their user agreement is approved by the FSA.

They do invoice you in advance, all you have to do is look at your invoice in your my ebay.

You state this >>>

What about the question of fees being charged at source for items bought by people living in the same country? I thought that was free? Where has noney gone???

What has the country got to do with anything?? You pay ebay to list and sell your items, it does not matter what country they are in. You don't sell items for free just because someone is in the UK, I don't understand why you think that??

Thank you for your continued help!

Regards people 'being in the same country' I am talking about a percentage of the fee being taken when someone PAYS for an item, NOT the listing fees. I can unserstand 'conversion' for someone paying us from America, but why someone in our own country? Are you saying Paypal can take a slice of the sale money paid that it for an item they don't own, over and obove listing fees too?

Thank you for your time and patience.

Yes they do.

When you list an item on ebay you get charged a listing fee.

If that item sells then you get charged a final value fee dependent on the sale price.

Then when a buyer pays via paypal you get charged a paypal fee to receive card funded etc payments from buyers.

Both lots of fee structures are listed on both sites.

Thank you again!

My hubby is under the illusion that he saw that if you were in the same country you did not get charged. I take it this is not true!?....And this I thank you for you time on this.

Also, if it is not called an 'invoice' why are you and Ebay directing us to go find one!?

If it says invoice, it IS an invoice....and please note (and this is historically noted fact...and not conjecture!) the FSA are a bunch of cowboys, the very same who allowed the two main banks in this country to create a monopoly with directors, who ruined both banks, caused massibe redundancies, and yet still got massive pay-offs! However, we (the tax payer) had to foot the bill.....So that does not mean they are the 'fountain of all knowledge' for Paypal or Ebay affairs or users.  They can neither judge nor prosecute.....so neither Ebay nor Paypal have to listen to them if they don't wish to.......and ignorance is financial bliss for such large multi-national concerns.

This is my first month selling on ebay so I'm a little new. First of all I listed enough things for my invoice to reach $50.00 this month. I was curious if I was to not post anything the next month will I have to still pay for the listing fees the month before or will I just have to pay the the fee when it is sold?

Hi eightysvn,

Welcome to our community page. 🙂

I think this is a question for eBay customer service. I will try to give you some info. An eBay invoice is a summary of the selling fees owed for the last month. Depending on when you created your seller’s account, the invoice date is either the 15th of the month or the last day of the month.

At the top of your invoice, you’ll see the invoice date and other information about your account.

The rest of your invoice is divided into two parts:

• Summary of your account activity: This section provides an overview of your invoice by summarizing your last invoice total, any new billing activity since your last invoice, and your new amount due. If the total amount due is £0.99 or greater, it will be charged to the automatic payment method you chose for your account.

• Billing details: This section displays the individual payments, refunds, discounts, credits, and new fees that make up the total amount due.

You can view your eBay invoices on 'My eBay'. Invoices are available for up to 18 months.

Here's how to view your invoices:

1. Go to www.ebay.co.uk and log in to your account.
2. Click 'My eBay' at the top of the page.
3. Click the 'Seller Account' link under 'Account'.
If you don't see that, you're using a different version of My eBay. You just need to click the 'My Account' link on the left side of the page.
4. Click 'View invoices' under 'My Seller Account Summary'.
5. Select the invoice you want to view from the drop-down menu. Your fees, credits, and payment details for that period will be displayed.

If you have any specific queries about the details on your eBay invoice, we recommend you contact eBay directly for further information.

I am sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. I hope this info helps. Thanks for posting.
