I have seen in a number of blogs that PayPay cannot be used to send money (USdollars) to a person's bank account in Nicaragua due to money laundering concerns. Is this true? Is there any Nicaraguan bank that will accept transfers? I have also seen that there IS a company called PAYONEER that will issue a Mastercard prepaid card that can be used like a bank debit card for purchases in shops and in cash machines. This companys account can be linked to PayPal. Can anyone tell me if this will work and if the company is bona fide.

Hi travelerjohn,
Welcome to the Community Forum! Thanks for getting in touch with your questions.
I've looked into this for you and I can confirm that it is possible to send money to a PayPal account registered in Nicaragua. However, the account may first need to be set up for receiving money.
I can also confirm that Payoneer banks cannot be used with PayPal at this time, but you may be able to add a MasterCard once there is a balance available in order to complete the confirmation process.
I hope I've fully addressed all of your questions, but do let me know if you have any further concerns 🙂

Sophie, this is not neccesarily the case. You can setup the account in nicaragua, and pay with nicaraguan debit/credit cards that can be linked to confirm. You will have an available amount which you could send to another paypal user, but for the account to be set up to receive the money (transfer funds), they must have it set up with a USA bank account. A USA bank account requieres a routing number, which Nicaraguan banks don't have. As you can see in the link below, bank to bank transfers are not made (USA to NIC).

Payoneer I believe is no longer allowed to work with Paypal transfers

You can only SEND and not RECEIVE payments with a Nigerian paypal account.
Click on the link below and select the country you want from the drop down list for options available in that country.

You could ALWAYS send through that you to Nica. But the problem to withdraw funds still remains.
