Transferring money overseas between personal PayPal accounts

Hi,

I have recently moved from the UK to Australia.  I have a UK PayPal account and linked bank account plus I have an Australian PayPal account and linked bank account.  I have separate email addresses for each PayPal account.

Is it possible to transfer GBP from the UK PayPal account to the Australian PayPal account by sending funds to myself as a family gift via email?  If so, am I liable for cross-border charges?

I want to send GBP as I have an Australian broker who will perform the currency exchange.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Martin.

Hi martinrw,

You can send the funds in GBP however you may be asked to convert them when you receive them in your Australian PayPal account. I would suggest opening a GBP balance in your Australian PayPal account so you can hold the funds.

You will however still be subject to cross border fees- here is a little more info on our fee structure: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees

You can manage multiple currencies in your PayPal account. Go to the Profile page and click 'My money'. Then click 'Currencies' beside 'PayPal balance'.

Hope this helps!

Hi

I have two dollar-based paypal accounts, one in the US and one in the UK. I mistakenly had an American friend deposit some money in the UK account and I want to move it over to my US one b/c that is linked to my US bank.

Is it possible to do this without incurring a fee? I dont want to change currencies, I just want to change accounts.

Please advise.

Many thanks!
Delia
