Why would a payment be listed as "Unclaimed" ?
It seems unatural that a seller would not want a payment imediately posted to his account.
What would be the advantage of manually accepting payments ?
I fear that my payment is leading towards a fraud against me.

Welcome JJM
Thank you for using the PayPal Community Forum. I can see why you may be concerned about the status of the payment but there are several reasons this can happen.
A payment can be unclaimed because the payment was sent to either an invalid or unregistered/unconfirmed email address. A seller can also choose to accept/deny payments that are sent to them in a different currency than what they hold in their in their PayPal account.
There are other reasons this can happen also but typically it is either the result of a seller preference they have set or it is because of an error related to the email address that the payment was sent to. You can view your unclaimed payment in your transaction history and if there is a cancel button you can cancel the transaction and the funds will be credited back to you. If there is not a cancel button and you have not been able to reach the seller for a resolution then the payment will automatically refund back to you after 30 days of staying in an unclaimed status.
My best wishes to you and thanks again for joining our community.
