Bank transfer declined, returned money, fees larger than instant transfer

I did a standard bank transfer to avoid the fees, transferred approximately $180, was willing to wait a few days, but then, the transfer failed due to "invalid bank account information."

(I may have attempted to transfer using my business name instead of personal).

They sent me my money back but deducted a fee that's larger even for an instant transfer! If I just did instant transfer, then the fee would've only been like $1.80. Instead, I got deducted $5

It so ridiculous. Is this PayPal's or the bank's fault? Is this supposed to be a normal thing? I press one wrong button and I get charged?

Hello @j_aeli

Thank you for visiting the PayPal Community Help!

I understand your concern about the withdrawal reversal charges. The withdrawal will get reversed when the bank account details registered with PayPal do not match the information which your bank has on file. Any small discrepancy in a name, address, or anything else can cause the withdrawal to be reversed. A return fee will apply when the withdrawal is reversed for incorrect bank information. Your bank may charge additional fees. You can find more details here : Withdrawal fees

To prevent failed withdrawals from happening in the future, try removing your bank account details and re-adding the information.

Best wishes,

Bindu
