Can't Choose Good and services option.

I'm trying to pay an artist for a commission. They didn't send me an invoice or a paypal.me link, just their email for a direct transaction. Because it's a business transaction, I'd like to choose the Goods and Services option, but I'm not given the option to select it. I only have family and friends chosen, and I can't switch it. Thinking it might be a browser issue, I tried paying over my phone and encountered the same problem.

 

The artist also asked that I not type anything in the notes section. I normally write a short description of what the transaction is for because "If you don't mind, don't leave a comment on the payment, it makes it difficult for me to conclude." This has me thinking that something shady might be going on.

Is it possible for a seller to disable the Goods and Service payment option for their account, forcing only the Friends and Family option which would disable my buyer's protections?

Congratulations for your first post on our community page!

 

I certainly understand how concerning this can be for you. You can send money to friends and family or pay for goods and services in the Send & Request tab at the top of the PayPal page. Sellers will not have the option to disable the option to receive Goods and Service payments. 

 

It is entirely possible that you could be running into our security system. I recommend that you to try again at a later date by clearing your cache and cookies from your internet browser or try to use a different internet browser/device.
