I sent a payment to a person I owed money to via Paypal, but he told me he doesn't use Paypal to accept payments anymore. How can I cancel the payment and get my money back?

What does it say next to the transaction in your paypal account?

Oh dear, how well do you know this person?

Only SENT means you sent a gift of money using the friends/family option to an email address that is linked to an open and valid Paypal account and it has processed successfully.

As its a gift payment then unless they voluntarily refund there is no way of getting it back again.

If he says he doesn't use paypal then he still has a valid account so could ask paypal to help him regain access OR do you think that the email address / phone number you sent it to was incorrect OR he no longer uses and has been reassigned to another?
