How do I query Paypal making a double withdrawal from my linked bank account for a transaction?

Hi,

I wanted to send payment to a vendor using Paypal.

So I transferred the correct amount from my linked bank account to Paypal.

Later I performed the transaction.

But today my bank contacted me and informed me Paypal has withdrawn the payment amount from my account again,

so twice the intended amount has now left my account, which is now in the negative.

I can't see any category in the Dispute Resolution Center that fits this issue.

And I can't see another way to contact Paypal to resolve this.

Any help is very welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Click on the purchase transaction to see the details. Does it say Paid by PayPal balance or by bank account? Or Paid by PayPal balance backed by bank account? Trying to see if PayPal also used your bank account on the purchase too.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

It says 'bank account' which I didn't realize. I will change that setting if it's possible.

----------------------

On a related note, it turns out the money I originally transferred to my Paypal account has still not cleared almost a week later.

In this era of banking, why does it take so long for funds to transfer I wonder.

Anyway - thank you again

Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the payment method after the transaction has been Completed. But you can set the preferred payment method for future payments on the Wallet page under PayPal Balance. Or on the Payments tab in your Settings. Payment method can also be selected before you finalize payment.

PayPal uses the slowest method possible because it’s cheap and could make it free to users.
PayPal will have to start charging to offer a faster method like they do on withdrawals.
