I did not invoice the buyer. He paid on his own to the wrong email address. I cannot access the money. Can I ask him to cancel the transaction, and if so how does he go about doing that? TIA

Ask him what it says on the transaction on his paypal account.

If its showing pending / unclaimed and there is a cancel option tell him to use it and the funds will go back to his funding source. May need to allow a few days for completion.

If there is no cancel option but its showing pending / unclaimed then it should time out at 30 days and go back to his funding source.

If its showing completed/sent/payment then he would need to reach out to the recipient and explain its a mistake and request a refund. Best to offer to pay the fee if they were charged one and for him to accept a part refund minus the fee as it was his error.

If its completed and the recipient won't refund then as long as he paid goods/services he can open a dispute for non receipt of item as that person has nothing to send them they should once escalated to a claim get a refund.
