How to request money from friends not in my contacts, how to add them to contacts

From Ireland I have been trying to request payment from my friends for our Christmas Party, they are not in my contacts and I put their mobile number in the Request money section and it comes back as we can't complete this transaction try later, but I have been trying for nearly a week and still can't send requests to my friends using their mobile number and I don't know how to add them to my contacts, it appears that this is a big issue that no one seems to know the correct answer, please help.

Don't use a money request or you will pay fees.

Give your friends your paypal email address and get them to click on send/request > send funds > put in your email address > select the friends/family and NOT the goods/services option > put in amount and currency > check and pay. As long as they 'fund' the payment to you from funds in their balance OR from their bank account there would not be a fee.

Alternatively have you made a paypal.me link that you can send them as per link below.
