Mistake - family member sent personal money to my business account

I have an old PayPal business account that I have not actively used for a long time.

I did update info on it the other day but never realized personal money can no longer be received as such in a business account.

A family member sent me money. We both did not now that my business account is no longer allowed to receive personal money.

It is being viewed by PayPal as a business transaction.

It was not.

How do I fix this?

I am allowed acess to only $300 of $1000 until I can prove a business transaction ocurred with tracking.

PyPal help chat bot does not understand and I cannot get info on how to return the money to my relative

without it being seen as a business transaction.

She though it was just sending personal money to my through my only paypal.

She had done it before but I guess that was when Paypal Business account could still receive personal money.

Any help appreciated.

My account has no option but to refund as a business transaction.

PayPal payment team message - Solution: Link provided for relative aka "customer" to confirm she received "item". Active link for 48 hours. Also help message active for 48 hours just in case any problems with "customer" confirmation.. Also said the hold should be released within 24 hours of "customer" confirmation. They were very nice and responded in a timely manner. So Thank You PayPal payments team as well as respondent here.

Sorry but if she had tried to send using friends/family it would not have transferred, she would have had an error message.

The fact it transferred to your business account meant that she sent it using the goods/services option.

 

If the funds are being held under the new seller hold as per link below then the longest you have to wait is 21 days.

If that is not the case then reach out to customer services and see if they can help you.

2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.

Paypal is holding until I can provide a tracking number for the payment.

If I ussue a refund does Paypal take the money from my bank account?

I haven't got that much in my bank account.

This is the reason shown in my account.

They are waiting on a tracking number and there is none.

Did you read the 3rd line in my first post above the links?

And yes if you issue a refund it will come out of your bank account.

Also any fee you were charged is not returned as part of any refund you make so you would still be paying the fee.

I have not used the account for so long, my fault not my relative's, not PayPal's.

I have contacted PayPal via message after I found out how to call customer support.

Evidently phone customer support for my account is in a different time zone

and was not available at the time I called.

I am waiting on a response.

I do not mind the charge as it was my mistake.

Sometimes us old people do dumb things. Just life in the slow lane.

I once had a brain that worked pretty well.😉

I dunno how old you are but I do know you are on the ball here. I lucked out that way.

Hopefully the payments team will reply with the correct solution.

I have faith they will. Time will tell. Thanks again!
