Hi, I made a purchase on the 4th of August using the Pay in 3 option, the retailer emailed me that they cancelled my order due to stock issues but it is still showing on my account as pending and the first payment was taking out.

Hello @JheySL2

Welcome to the PayPal Community! I'm sorry to hear a recent transaction was cancelled by the merchant. Once the merchant has completed the refund, we’ll refund the payments you’ve made up to that point back to your balance. If the complete the refund before your next payment, the next payment should not be taken out.

I hope that clears everything up!

They cancelled it the same day as the order I made and the the email I received was: "Hello, We’re sorry inform you that we are unable to supply your items at the moment and so your order has been cancelled. You have not been charged for this order. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this causes." On my PayPal account it still says pending since the 4th of August.

Hi @JheySL2,

Thank you for your reply. It's possible that what you're seeing is an authorization to the merchant rather than a charge. An authorization may potentially appear for up to 30 days before it is removed, if the merchant does not successfully cancel it. They may have canceled the order in their system and neglected to cancel it in their PayPal account. If that is not the case, please reach out to customer service at one of the options shown when clicking Contact at the bottom of the PayPal website.

I hope this helps!

Olivia
