Payment charger my bank account instead of Paypal Credit

I setup an auto payment with eBay to send an offer to a seller. The seller accepted it but instead of going to Paypal credit like I set it to it went to my bank account instead and my debit as backup. I do not have enough in my account to cover it. 

Is there a way to change this?

Welcome to the PayPal Community! I'm sorry to hear a recent payment on eBay hasn't gone quite as you had anticipated. Normally, the payment method used for a transaction is what you've chosen during checkout. I would recommend reaching out to our Customer Support teams to review the transaction and payment attempt details with you to see what may have happened.
