Cannot depost check using phone app

I've never used the feature before today, but I cannot deposit a check using the PayPal phone app on Android. The Check Capture screen simply says, "Sorry about that. We're having trouble showing you that info right now. Try again in a minute or two." I've tried all the troubleshooting steps I can think of. Is this just another disappointing feature from PayPal?

Thanks for your reply, though it obviously serves no other purpose.

1. the layout/names/buttons on my paypal app do not match the steps in the link you sent.

2. when I do locate and click on the Cash a Check button, I get the error I described above

Yes. I'm in the US, and this is a personal PayPal account. The link you sent me says

 

  1. Tap Accounts.
  2. Tap Balance.
  3. Tap Cash a check.

My app (Andoid) doesn't have Accounts or Balance on the PayPal app. Rather, when I open the app, I have to tap Finances and then tap Cash a check. Then I get the error described above.

I would upload pictures, but (not surprisingly) the upload feature here doesn't work.
