Does buyer need my email address?

Hi,

I am currently selling  couple of sofas on Facebook Marketplace.

So far, 3 people have tried to scam me & now someone says they're local & want to buy one of them.

I've got a PayPal account with different bank cards linked to it (they come up in the list of banks).

1) How do I know they're going to pay into the correct bank account?

2) The buyer is asking for my email address to pay me - is that correct?

How can I do this properly so I don't get scammed?

Thanks

Ian

Firstly you have 0 paypal seller protection for items personally collected or delivered, my advice for selling local items is cash on collection or direct bank transfer before pick up but your call.

Secondly buyers pay to your paypal account balance, you can then withdraw the funds via whichever card / bank you select.

The buyer can pay using goods/services via your paypal email address yes. However to be honest if you are going to go down that route I would prefer to ask his email address and send him a money request so you can fully described the item you are selling on that request.

Beware of scammers that send you fake paypal emails telling you that they have paid but you have to pay a courier first. No funds in your balance mean you have not been paid, even pending payments SHOW in your paypal account activity/balance.

Lastly I would always advise you read up on seller protection so you can risk assess your sales but as I have already said you have 0 seller protection for items collected or delivered.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.
