I don’t want to link my bank account or credit / debit cards, how can I add balance to my PayPal account? I don’t see that option as it seems the feature is not available in my country.

The option to add funds is unfortunately not available in every country.
If you go to transfer below your balance and there is only the withdraw option then you won't be able to add funds.

As a buyer you never need funds in your Paypal balance.
Paypal will automatically take payment from any confirmed bank account or card (whichever is eligible in your country) during the payment process.

If you have the option to select a funding source then you can do so here...

Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > second down click on update next to your preferred way to pay and put a dot in one of the options listed.

Also without a linked bank/card your account would be unverified and so more difficult to use.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thanks, I wanted to use PayPal as an option to pay at sites which I don’t trust. But I would also want to then limit the amount of money available in PayPal for being used. If I can’t add balance and have to link my bank account / card then I am unable to set limitations on amount.

Hi @QB3

Thank you for your posts and welcome to the Community!

I understand your desire to create a limit on spending. While that option is not available through your PayPal account at this time, I can help with your other concern.

You mentioned that you wish to shop on a site that you do not trust. If you are worried about the exposure of your financial information, please be assured that sellers will never see your bank or card information when you pay using PayPal. You'll also protect yourself by using the encrypted information stored within your PayPal account because you won't have to enter it time and again, risking the possibility of a keylogger virus or unsecure network compromising the information. If you're worried about recurring payments, you can manage those from within your PayPal account and cancel any subscriptions or preapproved payments before they are charged again.

However, it should be noted that if you suspect anything truly untrustworthy about a site, it's always best to walk away from the transaction. Even with PayPal's Purchase Protection, examining and eliminating your risk entirely by opting out of a risky transaction it is the best way to protect yourself.

I hope this information helps!

Olivia
