Seller-I'm being told I have a monthly payment limit

Today when logging into PayPal I saw a message saying that I had almost hit my monthly $4,500 payment limit. I have used PayPal for ages. As a seller I've never had a dispute, a chargeback or a claim. I sell trading cards that normally come out a couple times a month. During the month of a product release I can get $15,000 or so of payments. Other months can be very quiet. I've never had a limit on my account before ever. Oddly enough it says I'm at $4,000 of $4,500 before my payments may go on hold but I just added it up and it's closer to $7,000 payment. Does anyone know what this is about?

Hello @Mystfit

Welcome! Thanks for visiting PayPal's Community Forum. I'm sorry to hear there's been some confusion recently regarding a limit placed on your account. Normally if there's some kind of limit, hold, or account limitation placed on your PayPal account, you'll receive some kind of update via the Secure Message Center or email. That notification should also have any reasoning and / or steps on how to release any payments on hold. If you didn't receive that notification or have further questions after receiving it, please reach out to our Customer Support teams for assistance.

Best wishes!

paypal.jpgAs you can see from the email, I did receive a message. October third and I"m already over the limit. And yet, I've never had a chargeback nor a complaint. And I've been a customer for what, 20 years?! I expect another $10,000 at least in sales this month.  My request for a limit increease last week has not recieved any response.

Hello @Mystfit

Thank you for being a long-term PayPal customer!

I understand your payments are being placed on hold, even though you've requested an increase, and I'm sorry to hear that. When you encounter payment holds, I recommend visiting this Help Center article. Even though the article states it's for new sellers, the information can also apply to established accounts. If you aren't being requested to supply any additional information, you might have had a reserve placed on the account. You can learn about reserves on our Help Center here: What are reserves?

If neither of these articles fits what you're encountering, please reach out to our Customer Support teams for further assistance by selecting 'Contact' at the bottom of any PayPal page. Customer Support is also available on X (Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook

I hope this information helps, and you're able to increase the limit!
