I sent $200 to an incorrect email. The person denies receiving it. The transaction says competed so I can't cancel it. Where would the money go in this situation? I really need the money to give to the correct person.

There is no buyer protection for friends/family payments but if its showing as sent/completed rather than unclaimed then it has successfully transferred to the email address you sent it to that is linked to an active paypal account.
Your only option if the recipient has refused to refund is if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card, if so then contact them for a chargeback? Explain what happened and they may help you.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Would help if you provided information on how you sent it ie friends/family or goods/services?
Also you said it says completed, or does it say pending / payment / sent / unclaimed etc?
Lastly how did you fund the Paypal payment which funding source did you use?

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I replied by saying that I have not received the answer I need and sent answers to kernowlass. But no solution came back.
I sent $200 by Friends/Family to the incorrect email on both July and August dates. They are both marked completed. I found his phone number but he denies that he received my money. As a low income senior I really need the money to send to the correct person.
If he is telling the truth, where would the money go? And can I call it back to me? If he is not telling the truth is there any other recourse to get my money back?
Thank you. Sharyn108

I'm so sorry there is a misunderstanding. I did not try to call you! I called the guy whose email I sent $200 to. His phone number was connected to the email on paypal. He is the one who said he did not receive the money. Now I don't know what to do.
I appreciate you asking for more information which I sent out the same day. Apparently you did not receive it.
I am grateful for any help you offer. And I offer you many kudos for the work you volunteer to do that is so far beyond my tech skills.
Nobody else has offered any questions or solutions for this situation. Please forgive any mistaken correspondence. I did not intend to make you wrong in any way. I thank you for the help you offer.

Hi @Blairruff1,
Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to hear that you have sent a payment to the wrong person.
If you have contacted the recipient to request the money to be returned and they are unresponsive or unwilling to do so, the next step depends on the type of payment sent. If the payment was a Goods and Services payment, you can open a dispute for Item Not Received. If the payment was sent as a Friends and Family payment, I regret that there would not be a recourse for recovering the payment as the payment would have been funded by your balance after cashing the check and placing those funds into your balance.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience and I hope that the payment was sent as a Goods and Services payment to allow for Buyer Protection!
Olivia
