What is automatic payment

Company Temu was able to bill me for items that I had not authorised. Discovered that automatic payment had been set up which I then cancelled. Who authorized a direct payment?

Incase, you have been informed by the team after investigation that there has not been any unauthorized transaction and you are unsatisfied with the response I would recommend you to contact our customer support team through the available contact options so that our advisors can investigate the case and help you accordingly. PayPal_Ajay1's response to @Ck83 just evades the fundamental issue of the systematic problem of how PayPal allows merchants to set themselves up as autopay recipient and their subsequent ability to withdraw money from the account without the account holder's authorisation.

Getting an unauthorised payment back does not address the crying need for PayPal to update its security surrounding AutoPay. 

I have highlighted this matter on 26 Nov 2024 and have subsequently discovered a post from Gabor2000 back in August 2023.

So PayPal have been notified of the problem over a year ago and still have not addressed the issue. 

I also see that this is a problem with PayPal's AutoPay feature internationally. I see a post from the Netherlands as well as one presumably in the USA by reference to $.  

To PayPal, please address this issue of AutoPay as a matter of urgency, otherwise I will consider reporting the matter to the FCA.
