"convert with the bank" does NOT work

I recently noticed that PayPal no longer supports the "convert with the bank" option. Even though I selected "convert with the bank" in payment or AutoPay settings, it still ended up converting with PayPal.

I am using PayPal in the U.S. I also asked my friends in China and Japan to try, and despite selecting "convert with the bank," the final bill was still converted using PayPal's exchange rate.

PayPal accounts in the China region linked to UnionPay cards, as well as U.S. PayPal accounts linked to Mastercards that include non-USD currencies, are both encountering the same issue.

Have the same problem, "Convert with bank" is selected, but Paypal keeps convert my payments by itself (while the payment in USD, my card in USD, and they still use EUR for conversion. Just take money for nothing).

I have no idea how to fix this. And the support center is completely unreachable.

I'm having the same problem as well, do you have any clues now?

The cynicist in me thinks this is a deliberate way to make more money off users and may or may not be 'fixed' depending on how well it works out.

Same here, my Union-Pay is not receiving unconverted currency. This is very annoying.

Same issue with mastercard debit card payments. Seems to be a way of forcing users to use "convert with Paypal" and pay extortionate costs.
