I have been trying to link my Barclaycard to my Paypal account but keep getting a message from Paypal saying, "We couldn't confirm that you're the owner of this card ..."
Barclaycard say it is probably because Paypal are not fully compliant with the Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements. I find this hard to believe.
One thing I have noticed this morning is that Barclaycard have the last part of my address as 'Great Britain'. As far as I am aware every other site uses 'UK'.
Could this be the problem? It seems unlikely that an algorithm would not accept GB and UK as the same for address purposes but if you are having this same problem it might be worth checking.
I shall contact Barclaycard again tomorrow and report back.

Problem solved.
I spoke to Barclaycard on Monday and was passed to somebody in their Fraud Department. There didn't seem to have been any fraud taking place and it was nothing to do with them using 'Great Britain' instead of 'UK'.
In fact, I'm still not entirely sure exactly what the problem was or why I was passed to the Fraud Department but she said she would sort it out and she has. So, all good. (For now anyway).
Thanks again for your help.

I have my barclaycard linked with no issues.
Does the billing address of the card match your paypal account address?
Have you confirmed the card with the 4 digit code sent to your card statement?
Are there available funds on the card?
Is the card registered in your name?
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

The addresses don't quite match. Barclaycard includes "Great Britain". Every other retailer seems to use 'United Kingdom'. Or no country. The rest of the address is OK; street, town, county, post code.
There's plenty of funds on the card and Barclaycard say that everything should be OK. They suggested Paypal might not be up-to-date with security which seems rather unlikely.
Paypal isn't the only site I have had a problem with. Out of five attempts at online purchasing four have been declined because they couldn't confirm that I owned the card.
I've had credit cards since 1979 and have never experienced any problems at all so this is a bit baffling and unfortunately Barclaycard seem to be as clueless as I am.

Just checked my online banking for barclaycard and yes mine has GB on it as well in the address section and then above under nationality it says UK.
On paypal when I click on my barclaycard the billing address doesn't have UK or GB just ends in the postcode.
Seems weird as mine is identical to yours yet I use it on Amazon / Paypal and loads of other sites.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

My Paypal address details don't have a country either. Amazon have 'United Kingdom' and that went through OK yesterday. It was a bit of a long shot that the 'Great Britain' part was the problem. I shall just have to speak to Barclaycard again tomorrow and see if they can sort it out.
The other four sites that I have had problems with are sites I have used many times over many years so perhaps I should just ditch Barclaycard and revert to my previous payment source. Certainly would have saved me a lot of time this weekend!
Thanks for your help.
