PayPal Debit card purchases not counting toward 5% cashback

Just a heads up that the paypal debit card does not seem to properly earn 5% points/cash back even if category is selected.

 

Signed up for the new paypal 5% cashback debit card.  Selected restaurant as the 5% category as soon as I signed up in August, selected it again for September.

 

I used the card at four different restaurants, only ONE of those transactions shows points earned.  The other three, while settled (not in pending state), does not show the points earned.

 

Looking at the transactions, unlike other card providers, paypal does not show the merchant category.

 

If someone knows how best to reach out to paypal to bring this issue up, please let me know.

Yes, did 2 transactions. Impossible to see how they are coded even after they clear. Paypal support keep telling me that they only offer 2 categories - goods and services:))) They dont seem to have an idea about their own product

I got gas at the same gas station twice only a few days apart and I got points only one of the two times. I paid at the pump the same way both times.

I tried a 3rd time today and no points. My Uber debit card gives me consistent cash back for gas at the same station so it seems the problem is with paypal not the merchant code.

I'm in the same boat. I went on a long road trip last week and knew I'd be getting gas a lot so I picked gasoline as my category this month. I had maybe 8-10 transactions at the same gas station and only 4 or 5 of them have posted rewards... and all of them have posted to the account. I've emailed Paypal several times now and no response. Any luck from anyone? I would have used my normal credit card and gotten 3 percent back so now it is costing me money.

You can reach out to the Support Team during business hours by clicking the contact us option at the bottom of PayPal page. If your unable to login or are not in access of your PayPal account, you can connect with us via phone call as "as a Guest" (this does not require you to sign in to your PayPal account.
