PayPal credit card being used instead of set method of payment.

My Chase card is 5% back for this quarter. I have it saved as method of payment. I've bought 3 things now (eBay, Walmart, Fast Food) and it's automatically using my PayPal credit card.  I've checked on my PC and also in the PayPal app. They are both set to use my Chase card as preferred method of payment. Is there a bug somewhere?

I've spent way too much time with your human (?) chat support about this and have gotten nowhere, screenshots and all.

Stop telling people to contact PayPal support, it's a dead end.

I have a similar problem. My Chase Freedom card is set as my preferred payment method on PayPal. I have made recent purchases successfully with this credit card via PayPal. But when I try to purchase from this particular merchant, my preferred payment Visa is not even displayed as a choice.

NEITHER OF THE CARDS SHOWN IS MY PREFERRED PAYMENT METHOD. The payment choice has defaulted to PayPal Credit, which I definitely do not want to use.

I have had several chats with possibly human PayPal customer service agents about this, but none has given me a half-way sensible answer. Even though I uploaded screen shots, it's been a gigantic waste of time.

I can see from the chat history in my PayPal account that I had this identical problem last December. Why would PayPal block Chase Freedom? Is PayPal colluding with merchants to throttle Chase Freedom cash back? I talked to a Chase Freedom card support person and she did not understand anything I told her.

Does the merchant get to pick and choose what PayPal payment method to use? Isn't the purpose of PayPal to mask the credit card info?

It seems to me that this is a bug in PayPal but there's no way to report it.

I actually got it fixed through a live rep through the 888 number. She said there was a billing agreement that had to be updated to change the method of payment with the merchant. She updated it on the spot.

Contacted PayPal. They adamantly deny that this is a bug on their side, it's in the merchant's settings. Nonetheless, I got the agent to submit a trouble ticket.

This is getting worse and worse. PayPal is arbitrarily blocking my purchases and I can't get a human in PayPal support. The bot is useless. My login times out before chat support responds. It's becoming impossible to get PayPal support. Gigantic opportunity for a competitor.
