PayPal to stop accepting Chase credit cards after October

Recently I've had issues with my primary CC - A Chase VISA.  Initially the payment was not available for a merchant that wanted to add itself as an "allowed payee" here (Etsy others are doing this more and more).  Then I could not select it for a new Pay-in-4.

Was just informed by "Support" after 3 days of conversation that PP will no longer accept payments via Chase cards after October 31st, so my attempts to use it on Pay-in-4 have been blocked since it would extend beyond that date, and any payment that requires being added as an "allowed payee" (for auto payments) will not show my Chase CC

Still waiting for a reason - but I'm astounded that PP isn't going to take cards from one of the largest CC companies on the planet.  I've had a PP account since there was a PayPal, and this is likely going to drive me elsewhere for the vast majority of my transactions.

Not paypal that is doing it, it is Chase.

I've seen the announcement on BN/PL - but to be clear: PayPal support is telling me that PP will no longer be accepting Chase cards PERIOD after October 31st. When I asked when PP planned to announce this publicly I was told they were still "determining a date" as this was "new information"

I cannot speak the the quality of the information I'm being given, but it's the quality PP support has to give.  All I know is I've been unable to use my Chase card for purchases - BN/PL or otherwise - for a week.

PayPal has been removed from my YouTube account because Chase is not accepting PayPal anymore.

Chase is accepting PayPal just not the pay in 4 installments. Chase likes PayPal because it’s monitors accounts or fraudulent activities

I was just on the phone with PayPal support about this bizarre change yesterday, and they informed me Chase is the culprit here, not PayPal. Unfortunately, PayPal was not able to provide me with Chase's communication about this, nor were they able to provide any details as to why this is happening suddenly.

To confuse the situation more, it seems I can still use my Chase Freedom credit card for "normal" payments, just not Pay in 4. It was NOT communicated to me that I would not be able to use ANY Chase credit card going forward for normal payments - just not for Pay in 4.

I have received ZERO notifications from Chase AND PayPal about this, which would have at least eliminated any confusion around "why can't I use this card for new Pay in 4's anymore, and even more strangely, why can't I use this card to finish out the remaining payments on a Pay in 4 plan that was already using this card?".

In any case, I'm not sure who to believe here. Is it Chase? Is it PayPal? And most important of all - WHY is this happening?

You cannot use Pay-in-4 because the date of the last payment would be past the Oct.10th change at Chase regarding 3rd party payment & Buy now / Pay later programs as discussed above.

Similarly - you will not be able to make purchases, even if you are making the full payment NOW, if the merchant is requiring that you set up a new payment authorization (that could, in theory, result in a new charge after October 10th). Like Etsy. And Shopify stores. Also as discussed above.

Yes, this is a decision made by Chase, but it's PayPal that's doing the abysmal job of keeping customers informed about the problems this is causing.

You can you the chase card to finish out the remaining payments . This is all happening October 10. You cannot start a new pay in 4 to your chase card. You can still pay bills with your Chase card thru PayPay

Same here. I had to actually google why and it led me to this community forum. Now I know, I've been struggling for weeks.

I’ve been having this problem too. I also got an email a few days ago from Afterpay that they will also no longer accept Chase credit cards - so it is definitely Chase being stingy or something.
