PayPal to stop accepting Chase credit cards after October

Recently I've had issues with my primary CC - A Chase VISA.  Initially the payment was not available for a merchant that wanted to add itself as an "allowed payee" here (Etsy others are doing this more and more).  Then I could not select it for a new Pay-in-4.

Was just informed by "Support" after 3 days of conversation that PP will no longer accept payments via Chase cards after October 31st, so my attempts to use it on Pay-in-4 have been blocked since it would extend beyond that date, and any payment that requires being added as an "allowed payee" (for auto payments) will not show my Chase CC

Still waiting for a reason - but I'm astounded that PP isn't going to take cards from one of the largest CC companies on the planet.  I've had a PP account since there was a PayPal, and this is likely going to drive me elsewhere for the vast majority of my transactions.

I am wondering if it is harder to "decouple" the Pay-in-4 option from a typical transaction (keep in mind those merchant that, when you buy, "force" a stored payment method here - which was also a blocker for me) and that's why the current message is (or at least - was to me) that Chase cards are going away entirely.

I just feel PP is really falling down by not sending at least some message that Chase card support is in a state of flux, and is not available for several specific types of transactions.

It looks like Chase is trying to push users to use their "Pay Over Time" feature that charges a monthly fee.  Once again, greed wins out.  I'm gonna look for another credit card.

So I got an "official" email from Chase today on "Buy Now - Pay Later" changes, confirming the Oct. 10 date.

This is not PayPal doing this. It’s Chase. They are stopping all third party transactions like pay in 4 with PayPal, Afterpay & Klarna.. they say they already have pay later(over $100) with Amazon purchases. But not everyone uses that card on Amazon purchases. I also read that they may come up with their own pay in 4. It’s just plain stupid. People will close accounts and move on. I liked PayPal pay in 4 for the mere fact that I could buy a plane ticket and split it up over 4 payments. Boy did chase [Removed] that up

This is crying out for a class action lawsuit. It's none of Chase's business to inject themselves between the retailer and consumer. If the retailer wants to wait for 4 payments to complete the purchase, that is up to them. Chase has no right to determine the contractual agreements between me and PayPal or the retailers. What if I buy a guitar for $400, can I have it sent to me in 4 pieces. And pay a $100 per piece. Are the going to deny that "pay in 4" . Why should Chase even know what the final price I pay for an item.  All Chase needs to do it pay the amount being requested. NOT whether it is for the WHOLE item, for part of if or for partial payment. The retailers should just have people pay manually,  for each payment and keep Chase out of it. (if auto payments tip Chase off).  All Chase needs to know is I am making a purchase.

This needs a lawsuit, Chase is over reaching. PayPal needs to take this on.
