Paypal is not allowing me to Link my updated Venmo Debit Card!

Hello all!

I'm having trouble trying to link my updated Venmo card to Paypal and Paypal won't accept or add my card.

Last October, I have been able to pay some of my subscriptions via Paypal and an old linked Venmo card. However, I recently had to get it replaced after the Valid Thru had expired. I received and activated my new card a few weeks later. However when I tried to update my Venmo card, it didn't seem to work. So then I deleted the old card completely and tried to add the new one, only to be met with, "Sorry, this card isn't supported. Link a different payment method." Even though I'm pretty sure Venmo is under Paypal's Umbrella and BY them. And the card does work as I bought a few things at stores recently and worked without any troubles! And then trying to update it on Patreon gives me the error "We're sorry, your payment failed. Please try a different payment instrument." Even though it was working a month ago.

That being said, are there any troubleshooting tips I can try to fix this issue?

Hello @broken_Nuby64

Congratulations on your first post in the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty you've experienced when trying to re-add your Venmo card to PayPal. The error message you received typically means that the card cannot be added to the PayPal account, but your Venmo card should be. I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting steps, but if you continue to receive the same error, please reach out to Customer Support to see if there are any other options.

I hope you can add the card soon!

I like other people in this trend am having issues linking Venmo card to PayPal. I get this message every time: Sorry, this card isn't supported. Link a different payment method.

just seems very odd to me. Seems like it's a known problem.

Same problem- i have ised my venmo debit card to make paypal payments for years now. Its how i pay my daycare weekly and invoices for our business. Nov i got a nee card because it had expires- cant update info so deleted and tried to add new card and it wont let me. PayPal said it was a venmo issue and they cant fix it- contacted venmo and they said its not on their end it is a PayPal issue. I still have not resolved this issue and not able to pay invoices through PayPal.

I am having the same exact issue with my new Venmo debit card. My previous one worked fine with PayPal but I had to get a new one due to a fraudulent charge. After receiving the new card and trying to link it to my PayPal account, it says that it is not supported and I need to try a different payment method. After an extensive amount of time speaking to PayPal online support they confirmed I had correctly tried every option to get the card linked and that I had not made any errors when entering my information. I was then told to call PayPal and I spoke with an agent who told me the card was being declined due to improper information and that I would need to contact Venmo as the issue was on their end. I contacted Venmo and after an hour of investigating they determined that their automated security system is preventing the card from linking to PayPal and they have no way to override it so there is no way to get it to work. I requested a new card and am currently awaiting its arrival. hoping that it will somehow work.

I started having this issue yesterday, but in my case I didn't even remove or attempt to replace the card until after I began having an issue processing a payment. My Venmo card works fine elsewhere but was throwing an error when trying to process any payment in PayPal, so I tried removing it and re-adding it, which resulted in the below error. It worked just fine on Sunday!
