Gift Card Troubles.

Yesterday I bought an eBay gift card at a grocery store. The cashier activated it but when I went home to use it on a purchase the message popped up: "Your coupon isn't ready for use just yet. Please give us a little more time. We'll have it ready soon."

This morning I tried to use the card again and the same message popped up. I am new to eBay but I have both an eBay and a paypal account.

It usually takes 2-4 hours for it to activate, but one day it took over 12 hours.

you did scratch off the stuff covering the last 4 numbers of the card

Yes, I scratched off the silver coating to get the last 4 numbers. Its now been over 24 hours since I bought the gift cards. I called Paypal and they are hopefully figuring it out and will get back to me shortly. They said they have been having trouble with gift card activations lately so I guess I'm not alone.

So I purchased an ebay giftcard over 24 hours ago, and I've yet to use it, because it refuses to "verify".

I've used maybe ten ebay giftcards before, and they've never taken more than an hour or so to verify themselves and let me use them.

I've tried all day yesterday to use the card, and I keep getting the message;

"Please enter the correct information for the following fields:

• Your coupon isn't ready for use just yet. Please give us a little more time. We'll have it ready soon. Go to Redeem a coupon help for more info."

So I called the Gift Card Customer Service number on the back of the giftcard, and when  I entered the redemption code, it told me it "wasn't available", and it

 hung up on me.

I called ebay's customer support, and the girl gave me the number I had just called. To humor myself, I called it again, and received the same notice about my card being unavailable, and was hung up upon again.

I called PayPal's customer support, but have not used a credit card on my account before, and do not have one linked to it, so I couldn't talk to one of their representatives.

So I'm literally stuck in a hole.

What am I supposed to do?

This has never happened to me before and I am very, very upset.

I had the EXACT same problem you did. The eBay's customer support woman gave me the same number (as you know, all that gets you is an automated voice that hangs up on you.) so I told the woman that I had already tried that number and she gave me the paypal customer support number: 1402 935 2050. I managed to get ahold of a real person (no credit card needed) explained my problem, gave them the redemption codes, and they promised to email me when they are able to activate my cards.

I went through the same problem yesterday so I know how frustrating that is.

No it usually only takes up to 4 hours to load.

Call Paypal if they can't help and you still have activation receipt from the store where you purchased it, I would take it back to them to see if you can get a refund, to purchase another one.

I would print out a screen shot with the message and show it to them.

Hello Everyone,

We are aware of an issue with activating eBay Gift cards, and eBay Gift Certificates.  This has been escalated to our engineers.  Once I receive an update, I will let everyone know!

It's been a few days now ?  Any update on the gift card issue ?  I have auctions I'm loosing out on because I can't use my gift cards I have.   Still get the error "Your coupon isn't ready for use just yet. Please give us a little more time. We'll have it ready soon."   I know system issues happen, I work in IT, but to not have any update or formal announcement is not a good business practice.    Last thing was almost 12 hours ago and not a word since then.

Im having the same troubles and contact paypal directly.  They are telling me there are IT troubles and they are trying to get them resolved.  I have spent my whole day off dealing with this issue and am frustrated because I cant pay for a purchase that I made.  They told me it can take 3-4 days to get resolved.  I have a lot of money lost in a computer somewhere 😞
