Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

Guess what? I called paypal and raised **bleep** and they released the funds from being frozen.I needed to print a shipping label (which they seemingly force you to do more $ for them) and I was going to have to come out of pocket to do so-no way jack there is $25 that you are holding for some bs reason and I'm not paying out of pocket when the money is right there what a load of sh**! Release the funds or YOU can call the buyer of my ebay item and explain why he isn't getting his item for 21 days:) -The whopping $25 in my acct. was what all of this was over.$25! They said it was because of feedback I have not received from buyers and there was a shipping label that I printed but never used.First of all,how am I supposed to force someone to leave feedback and all I can do as a seller is leave positive or nothing at all for deadbeat payers? That way the non-payers always smell like roses WTF! I printed a label and the post office would not let me swqitch boxes-long story but the buyer LEFT ME POSITIVE FEEDBACK so he got the item! It's all a game and really if it happens again-I will find another merchant acct to deal with period.

Has PayPal or anyone associated with eBay recently hired one of the greedy **bleep** that work for Bank of America? This process of holding funds for 21 days without resonable notice makes me believe that they did. I got my funds released after waiting 3 days and calling customer service at PayPal. I was helped by a lovely lady in Costa Rica. She release my funds while I was on the phone with her. I will not release her name because she would certainly be fired. This process MUST STOP IMMEDIATELY.

Agreed, although when I called, they would NOT release my funds. This is a terrible policy. I wont be using eBay or Paypal again. They might think they are the only people in the game, but they certainly are not.

After an initial call the other day to PayPal that basically ended with them telling me that it was not me, my account, or anything that I had done wrong as an eBay seller, that it was a new policy, I did a little more reading on their website. Their website states that "Generally, funds are available to you when the buyer pays. However, in some cases, we may wait to make funds available if we believe that there's a higher level of risk associated with you, your PayPal account or transactions."
Now I'm not my any means a big user of eBay or PayPal. I've been a member of eBay since 2000 and a PayPal member since 2005 or 2006. I use it occasionally to buy items and sell a few things (mainly when I decide to do a little house cleaning). Both my buyer and seller ratings are perfect. I've never had any issues. Zero.
In September and October, I sold several items (10-12 with a total value in the $500-$600 range). PayPal made my funds available immediately after each sale. This month, I again listed 10-15 items. When they started selling, the funds were held. Some has been released, and some hasn't (I still have some items for sale).
I called PayPal again today, determined to find out what about my account had changed to lead them to believe that I was now considered to pose a "higher level of risk" when 3 months ago, everything was fine. The person I talked to finally divulged that the hold on my funds was due to an eBay initiated hold. In other words, eBay had requested that PayPal now hold my funds. She then offered to transfer me to an eBay customer support specialist. I again explained my situation and concerns. This person reviewed my eBay sales history, and told me it looked like I met all the criteria to have the hold lifted. He never did offer to tell me exactly what that criteria was, nor did he explain why my account had been held in the first place. He did tell me that I had 26 sales transaction on eBay (for what it's worth).
After admitting that my account met the criteria to not be held, he told me that he would submit my account to be re-evaluated that that process would take approximately 24 hours. He then told me that he would 100% guarantee my next transaction on eBay would not be held. I have an auction closing tomorrow that has bidders, so I'll find out then if this guarantee holds up.
Bottom line, I was polite and diligent. I'll know in the next day or so if I was successful and report back here with the results.

I can confirm that after my second call to PayPal regarding the issue that a hold is *not* being placed on funds from new sales. I still have funds that are being held from previous sales. I was told that the re-evaluation process would take 24 hours. It has been just over 24 hours, so maybe still a little early. I'll wait until Monday, then call again if funds are still being held.

After a lull of selling items on eBay, I return to find that the fees are completely ridiculous and now I get an email stating that they are holding my funds for absolutely no reason. I have 100% feedback and have never had any claim filed against me whatsoever. How much flipping money do you people need? Just another ploy to sit on people's money and collect interest. Well, I would hate to be my next buyer because I am not shipping any items until the money has cleared so I guess poeple will wait 21 days for me to ship from now on, and any future auctions I put up will no longer be accepting paypal as a payment option. I think craigslist is my new choice for selling. I would rather sell items for less and not have some needless middle proxy to spend my money for me. Sure, I could get killed on craigslist but at least eBay won't show a profit. Goodbye...

So, a grand total of $42.83 for doing nothing, AND you are holding my money for 21 days?
