Wells Fargo debit card denied by bank

Hey,

I recently attempted to exchange my now useless wachovia check card with the new wells fargo one sent to me in the mail after the merger but it is always denied by the bank no matter how I attempt to enter it. Decided to only exchange them now because I started selling on ebay and want the card linked. Common sense told me to enter exactly as it appears on the card but denied. Then I tried exactly as name and address appears on statement...denied...I've tried past addresses for the account and my brand new address but still all denied. Ive been trying for days to figure this out and have googled and searched here but never found a solution. I successfully linked and verified my wells fargo bank account and the new check card they sent me is the only card I've ever had trouble with here so I'm out of ideas. Someone please help.

Welcome to the boards!

Oh no!  How new is the card, exactly, and has it been activated?  Newly activated cards sometimes take up to 48 hours for them to fully register in the card issuers system that works with PayPal, so that may be the case.  It also sounds like there is a bit of a merger going on, and sometimes, wires get crossed during that period despite all the best of intentions.  I once had a credit card that was purchased by another card issuer, and this caused random declines for a few weeks on the card until they had all of their internal systems meshed together and updated completely.  Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't.  I would say give it a while before trying again, I'm sure it will add successfully once all of your card issuer's dust settles.  Smiley Happy

Hope this helps,

Adrian
