What does it mean when payment status says 'cleared'?

Hi, Im new to PayPal and I just bought  something off of E-bay. I was wondering what does it mean when it says my payment status says "cleared"?

The "cleared" payment status indicates that your eCheck payment has cleared your bank account and has been credited to the recipient's PayPal account.
