A merchant blew me off for months telling me a digital item was being produced. Months later they revealed they never actually started working on it so I asked for a refund.
It was like pulling teeth, but then they gave me a refund, but not properly, instead by paying me as if I were a business so it would not go back to the payment method.
I paid them 250 USD.
They gave me 240 CAD.
I am therefore out 72 USD because 240 Cad is 178 USD at the time of writing.
I have escalated multiple times and provided mountains of evidence but PayPal keeps saying I am in the wrong when it is literally a mathematical impossibility. It is obvious that literally no human has read any of the information provided and its is becoming massively frustrating.
There is no room for subjectivity here. They literally simply did not give me the amount owed, plain and simple.
Every time I try to contact PayPal they say no agents are available. At this point I completely refuse to let this go. I will get back my 72 USD. It has been more than a month of this nonsense. PayPal clearly has no consumer protection whatsoever. Completely useless considering they literally have all the information to clearly see that the currency is incorrect.
At this point I have tried to contact Paypal multiple times, and it seems like clearly I need to reach out to the relevant government entities for consumer protection, which might sound ridiculous for 72 USD but it is not remotely ok what they are doing and I imagine this happens to many people.
