To provide some context: I found a FB listing on a sale that I was interested in getting. Communicated that I could only use PayPal - ‘Goods & Services’ option & the agreed amount was USD147 (USD140 + Goods & Service Fee). The next morning, he told me that ‘withdrawing the goods payment charged another fee & shippings are a little high too!’ & requested another USD30 to proceed. I was getting quite uncomfortable & requested a cancellation & refund (because it was getting out my budget too) which he didn’t respond to for quite some time. Decided to raise a dispute via PayPal & provided all evidence. (all prior comms were done within FB messenger) Immediately upon sending the dispute, he replied me on messenger stating that ‘he needs to withdraw the money in order to ship the items & since the dispute was filed, he can’t do anything’. He also requested me to close the dispute in order to receive the items. (No comms were done via PayPal. However, I’ve been summarising what he said via messenger & sending proofs via the chat on resolution Center) According to PayPal, I’m unable to raise another dispute on this transaction should I close the current dispute & it is recommended to close the case after receiving the item. —— Sorry for the lengthy post but I’m concerned on what I should do? Should I still keep the case open & only resolve it once I receive the item ? Because I’m concerned that this might be a potential scam where I close the dispute but don’t ever receive the item. Am I able to get my money back if I escalate this to a claim?
