Good thing people didn't "put it to rest" and rely on your wrong information . Too bad you couldn't offer an apology for telling people to "believe what they want" instead of understanding what people were writing. In order for it to be a phishing scam, there has to be some way for the "phisher" to access your information. As stated, there weren't any links to click on with these notifications and the URL address clearly showed it was from paypal. Here is a lesson best learned early: You don't know it all.
