Scammed - item not received but delivered and picked up

Hello all. I believe I am being scammed. I sold a phone on Swappa and shipped the phone to the buyer. Tracking shows the item was delivered and picked up at the post office. Nearly 4 months later the buyer issues a dispute saying the item was not received. Never tried to contact me through Swappa or any other means. I provided all the evidence in the dispute case but Paypal rejected it with no explanation and debited my account. Not sure where to go from here. Seems like a pretty clear scam. I tried calling support but the phone system is pretty clearly designed to not offer any human interaction and just redirects my to the dispute page which does not offer much ability for me to plead my case to a human.

For Paypal seller protection you have to provide a tracking number that shows delivery of the item to the buyers Paypal registered address and that would not be there local post office !!

Good to know and thank you for the feedback. It says Seller protection eligible on the transaction so I thought it was sufficient. I am not a professional I was just selling a 1 off item. I guess the scammer knows how to manipulate the system and paypal lets them. lesson learned.

Seller protection was available as it wasn't an item being sold that was not covered OR a gift payment etc.

However even if eligible for seller protection you still have to abide by the terms and conditions to be covered, one of those conditions are to send to the buyers paypal registered address.

Paypal didn't let him scam you, you did. Before starting to use paypal for buying, you read the short section on buyer protection. Before starting to use paypal for selling you read the small section on seller protection. Then you can risk assess your transactions.
