Making a PayPal payment in US Dollars

I would like to tip someone that helps people by giving them help and advise via his website/blog. He does not charge for the help that he gives. He says that if anyone would like to show there appreciation, we are welcome to give him a tip. You can tip by clicking a PayPal 'TIP DONATION' link on his website.

The thing is, he is in America and the link accepts US Dollars. So if I wanted to tip him say 20 USD, How would it work? I am in the UK and my account(s) are in UK Sterling. Am I able to make a US Dollar payment and how does it work? If anyone thinks it could be a scam, I am confident that it is not. I have been reading this guy's blog for over five years now and absolutely certain that he is genuine. There is no pressure to donate anything, he is just a very nice guy. Any tips that he receives goes towards his costs in running his blog. He is always giving tips and advise to his blog subscribers.

Anyway, any help to my question would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Normally if you are sending money you just input the amount > select the currency from the drop down box and then before you click to submit to paying it tells you how much will be deducted in your currency from your funding source.

So presumably you will get that option on his website?
