Why Another Payment Method Was Used Instead of Preferred Method of Payment

ANSWER !!  I was finally able to speak to a Supervisor after pushing the issue with Customer Service. He walked me through the process of why this is taking place. With nearly every business transaction, your preferred card used for that initial payment is kept in “Autopay” and utilized as your preferred method of payment with that business. To my surprise, there was a very long list of businesses/vendors. With each business, you need to open it where you will see your preferred payment method. This will override any preferred payment method that you have chosen for payments on your PayPal account.
In order to change this, I had to sign into the following:
1.  In PayPal, Click on Settings  (the object that looks like a wheel at the top right.)

2.  You will see a blue and a white bar with different topics towards the top of the page. Find the white bar with different topics and choose “Payment “ (click on it)

3.  Scroll down to the bottom and choose Automatic Payments

4.  You will find an Autopay section with active and inactive accounts.
You will need to choose each business/vendor individually in order to see the preferred payment method that you may have chosen for that business/vendor. In some cases, you may not have one and this is where you can make a choice on PayPal when you make a purchase. They are listed in alphabetical order and when you reach the bottom, choose “More activity” and it will bring up additional vendors.

I had no idea that this existed and there are also many other customers of PayPal with the same question.
This answered a question that I have had for quite some time. I was able to go in and make quite a few changes. I hope that this helps!
