I currently have a personal paypal account.  There is an option to upgrade to the business account.  I do a little buying and selling.  Please let me know of any pros and cons.

Thanks.

1. You are not supposed to sell on a personal account and if you do then you have no seller protection.

2. It means buyers can fund their payments to you via credit cards, if you have a personal account then you would only be able to accept a few then you would be forced to upgrade anyway.

3. If you are just a small time ebay etc seller then just upgrade and select the "individual pathway" (which is what I have) and then you can accept as many card payments as you like.

Check out the Premier account.  It's sort of a cross between a personal and a business.

The fees are the same now that PayPal took away any extra discount for bringing them thousands of dollars a month.

Hi everyone,

The main advantage to upgrading to a business account is that there are more features and options tailored to business users.  Things like more detailed reports and access to other PayPal products for receiving payments.  As jeeperzcreeperz mentioned, there's no difference in fees between the two account types when using the same PayPal products.

The Premier account is no longer an option when signing up for PayPal.  It's just going to show Personal and Business.  Basically Premier accounts are personal accounts.

PayPal Seller Protection is also available for all account types including personal as long as the Seller Protection requirements Seller Protection requirements are met.

I hope this helps! 🙂
