Tax after discount on invoice

Hi! I've searched around but can't seem to find an answer to this.
I've tooled around in my invoices I'm creating but I can't seem to find a way for the invoice to calculate tax AFTER discounts are applied. I need this for my books to add up correctly. I also recently overcharged a customer because of this (I wasn't paying close enough attention).
As it stands now, I can select the tax rate on individual full price line items. Then I apply my 20% discount, but the total tax calculated at the end is based on the full price of the items. Please someone help! Otherwise I can't use this product, or I have to apply everything manually which is just a pain.
Thanks for any help!
Jay

My solution to this was, instead of using the discount field at the bottom of paypals invoice I enter the discount as an item with a negative sum including tax.
I hope this helps.
