I used Paypal to purchase an item on ebay. The item showed up on the credit card I use with PayPal shortly thereafter. The ebay seller never shipped item so ebay refunded the money back to my Paypal account. I spoke with a PayPal representative and they said they had already sent the refunded money back to my credit card. But when I called the credit card company they had not received those funds and said it could take up to 15 days to process a PayPal refund. Does anyone have any idea or experience with how long it usually takes from the time Paypal sends the money to when the credit card company shows it as received? Hopefully that limbo time in not 15 days!
Thanks for any help!

Hi Sumiko!
My refund from ebay shows up on my Paypal statement. That is all good. But does it ever show up as being sent to the credit card comany on my statement? The PayPal rep said no, that it was automatically sent to the credit card company from ebay/PayPal when refunded. My real question from the get-go was if it is Paypal that holds the money for so long OR as you suggested it is the credit card company who does that? The credit card rep said they post refunds immediately, as they receive them. But it sounds like from what you said that they have a process they go through. That was really all I wanted to know when I orginally posted my question. I really just don't want to make a payment on my credit card for this refunded ebay purchase and was trying to make sure the money would be credited before then....the 19th. But you said it might take 7 to 30 days. They told me to call them back in 48 hours and they would work with me on it. I told them I would check with PayPal again and that is why I posted my question to the community board as to the length of time. Since you said 7 to 30 days for processing on their end, I feel better. I might just go purchase something on the card and make a minimum payment for that just so it wont go towards my ebay purcahse....just in case there is a problem along the line. LOL! Thank You for your help. You gave me good advise when I asked my question about the ebay refund awhile back. I appreciate it.

Its been 21 days now since my refund was posted and its still not in my bank account, PayPal still has refund listed but, nothing received yet, seems like an awful long time to transfer a refund back into a bank account. Well, on the good side, at least its still on PayPal as a refund, maybe I'll get it before Christmas.

Here is the CORRECT answer to my question for MY case in this situation. It took 48 hours for my credit from ebay to transistion through PayPal and my Credit Card company. Not any longer than that! It was just a simple credit of the money back on my card. So not 7, 15 or even 30 days as I was told it might take from others on this community board. I was very lucky! I understand a lot of the ebay/PayPal transactions are way more complicated than mine and know other refunds can and might take a lot longer as some have suggested. That is why I gave the details of what happened in my own case. There was no dispute with ebay for the refund of the item. The seller never made any contact or shipped the item with 2 different people for their purchases on the same day on ebay. Therefore a refund to my PayPal account was given without hassle. PayPal shows the refund going in and out of my account on the same exact day as that.....May 8th. And they had a transaction number for the transfer of funds to my credit card company. The credit card comapny shows the refund as May 8th....the same day as the ebay and PayPal transactions. Yet they wait 48 hrs to show it in your balance information. Today, May 10th, it has been processed, no longer in my balance information and I am good to go. Just letting others know there is hope for faster action on things than just what is stated in the PayPal HELP information and from people on this community site. You just have to be informed and stay on top of it. Thanks for the help from others though. I appreciated it! I know there are a lot of people who have way more complicated dealings than mine and needed those suggestions. I just had to ignore the bad advise and continue on. And I DID have to make a lot of phone calls, but it was worth it. I guess I can keep my day job and still figure things out on my own.

I think PayPal keeps the money longer in that way they can use the money for their benefits.
I am so ticked off when I pay some one the money comes out the same day but when I get refund it takes days and at certain time I had to call PayPal to ask them why and they reply we will refund it back and sure enough after speaking to them it does transfer right away.
