Cancelling a pending authorization .... How???

I ordered thru Petsmart and used Paypal.  After entering the info into PayPal, I was returned to the Petsmart site and completed the transaction ... or so I thought.  Petsmart now says they never received any order, they had IT problems today, so we had to purchase in the store.  Petsmart has NO open orders for us, and the last order was some time ago.  However, PayPal still shows a Pending Authorization for Petsmart.  I tried to cancel the pending authorization but couldn't see how to do it.  I clicked on HELP and the PayPal Help screens told me how to cancel a pending transaction.

The problem is that the screen shown in the PayPal Help screen does not appear anywhere on my system.  I have NO CANCEL option anywhere.  It is frustrating and irritating when a service doesn't ensure that the USER screens match the HELP SYSTEM screens.  Someone in IT management should be reprimanded for this failure to coordinate USER access with true system access.

I understand what you are saying:  the Help system in PayPal does describe a method to cancel a pending authorization, but of course, the screen that they show to use doesn't seem to existing in my case ... don't know if I have a unique class of user screens or if they haven't updated either the Help system or the user screens.  Frustrating when the "Help" system really doesn't .......

I just also received a "response" from PayPal because I asked this question to support.  What I actually received was a ridiculous automated response to what their computer system "thought" I was asking about and it was completely wrong, total waste of my time in looking at it.  I HATE automated responses because I think it is EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, shows very little regard for the end user, and generally does not respond with the correct information.  How sad that true customer service and respect for the users time and effort is a thing of the past in far too many companies, and sad to see that PayPal falls into the same category.

authorisation is just a way for the merchant to find out if your card is any good,it does not mean it is going to charge your account.

it will disappear .

gas station do that, submit authorisation for $1 and then after yo pumped your gas, they submitted the actual amount .

there is no way for you to cancel authorisation and no money has been committed.

Same thing is happening to me tried to buy something online from JCPennys back in SEPTEMBER! Something glitched while bouncing back to JCP site after choosing PayPal and logging in and approving payment. So on PayPal it says pending but I called JCP and they said they have no info of my order. They also were rude to me while expressing that PayPal doesn’t have any info sharing or connection with PayPal and jut because PayPal is awear of the almost purchase JCP has no knowledge of anythinggggg. I contacted PayPal saying canceling it because it’s clearly never going to go through pretty much cuz of jcp **bleep** site but PayPal was totally unhelpful. Just sent an automated message explaining the most common reasons as to why my order is “pending”. Long story short my ocd is driving me crazy and I want it gone of my home page I always have a mini heart attack thinking that sum of money is about to leave my account. Someone please help
