How many times will PayPal retry to make a payment if you don't have enough in the bank

Long story short I tried to transfer money from my PayPal to a friends paypal & they told me not to worry so I attempted to cancel the payments. But the payments didn't cancel they went through putting my bank into negatives, then it re tried the payment but I did notice that I got refunded for the payment also, at least I think. So any ideas how many times PayPal will try to make the payment if there is not enough money in the bank

PayPay will generally make 2 attempts to get funds from your bank account.  The bank can charge NSF fees for each failed attempt.

But after the second attempt at retrying, will PayPal still continue to charge me then is my main question now

I mean after 2 times of charging me will PayPal continue to try to put the money through on my bank account & no it didn't go through but my bank still had money taken out unless they refund it soon

You sent money to another party as friends/family.  The other party received the money.

You did not have funds in your PayPal acccount so PayPal made 2 attempts to take money from your bank account, but they both failed.

You bank charged you 2 x NSF fees which you find in your bank account.

Your PayPal account is currently negative.

You will now need to find a way to add funds to your PayPal acocunt to pay off the debt.  If you don't, PayPal will sell the debt to a collector.

Okay I'll be more clear. I sent money to a friend. They said don't worry about the money so I cancelled the three separate payments I sent them. Then I didn't have the money in PayPal so I used my bank account. So I'm worried that PayPal will continue to try to take money out of my bank account because I cancelled the funds transfer because my friend said he didn't need the money but I cancelled it & it went through anyway
