I have used paypal a few times for smaller amounts and the money was easily available in my checking account the next day. Monday my car broke down, so a family member gave me $500 through paypal. Tuesday morning I called paypal and asked why it still wasn't available and was told it would be availaable within 24 hours of deposit. So, I called back after 26 hours and was then told it would be available within 48 hours. After 48 hours past I called and demanded to speak to a Supervisor and when I did she said "I'm sorry about the previous info. you recieved, but the money will be in your checking account within 3-5 business days" . At which point I just started laughing to avoid crying and realized Paypal Employees must just be trained to say what ever just to get off the phone and there is no proper answer to a question, so you just make something up... I assume if the money isn't there after 5 business days, I'll call back and be told it takes 10 -14 business days....???? Everyone drop a hit of lsd and the east indian you are talking to from paypal with make perfect sense!!!

I believe 3 to 5 days is quite typical for transfers to checking account. Was the money instantly available in your PayPal account or was there a delay there also.
PayPal is not a good way to transfer funds when the need is urgent. Moneygram and other services are much quicker.

Well, like I said in my post, any time I ever used paypal in the past the money was available for withdrawel the following morning, so I had no way of knowing the one time I need the money in the morning it's not going to be available for 3, 4, 5 days....

Paypal has changed, there are just more participants and more risk, but your family could do online banking and it would take a few days.bank to bank instead of going thru Paypal.

Transfers requested before 7:00 PM ET on business days are typically deposited the next business day, depending on your bank. All withdrawals are subject to review and, in some cases, may be delayed or blocked if PayPal identifies a problem. Additionally, bank transfers will not be deposited on bank holidays. If you do not receive it next day then expect it to take 3-5 days.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

yep, thanks for reading that disclaimer to me!!!
Sinse I can't get any legitamate answer from paypal or from my bank or on here all I can do is make the assumption that it must be taking longer due to being a higher amount than it was in the past. Any time in the past the amount was $200 or less and it was available the following morning, this time it was $500 and 3 days later it's still isn't in my checking account, so I guess I will just assume any amount over $200 has a longer delay put on it... This is the same thing paypal Employees do [make things up] so I would make a good paypal Employee!! "AMOUNTS OVER $200 WILL BE AVAILABLE IN YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT IN 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS, AMOUNTS OF $200 OR LESS WILL BE AVAILABLE THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY"
