Paypal wants to convert USD to GBP

I'm trying to pay someone in USD (my default currency). But when I reach the stage to confirm my payment it's converted to GBP. I asked him whether he had a GBP currency and he said his default was EUR, not GBP.

So why I'm seeing this? My last payment was to some British company in GBP. And this looks like Paypal 'inherited' those values to all future payments.

Bump.

I have now noticed that it ALWAYS converts to GBP on every single Paypal account I want to pay! That's insane. My connected Mastercard card has a native USD. Converting USD -> GBP and then GBP -> USD again is such a loss!

Paypal does not check to see if your credit card is denominated in a non local currency,it is where you open your Paypal account,if USA,then US$,if UK,then GBP.

Opened the account in Serbia. So it should be RSD? Not GBP.

And by the way, this wasn't always the case. This happened after I paid several british companies for services.
