Hello Everyone,
Not sure if anyone else has ran into this problem or not if so please list how you resolved!!! Ok so I bought a camera on 3/10/2016 for $1899.00, with (2) $500 eBay gift cards and the other $899 out of my bank account. The seller refunded my money the same night because he wanted to deal outside of eBay!
So as of today 3/19/2016 the $899.00 out of my bank account was refunded into my PayPal account great! But the two gift cards were supposed to be refunded back to the gift cards supposedly on 3-11-2016, as of today checking though eBay both cards have a $0 balance, same with calling in also, so as of right now i am missing $1000.00!!!!
In the last few days I’ve spent over 10 hours talking to PayPal and eBay getting transferred back and forth back and forth, multiple supervisors and they keep putting the blame on the other company. No one knows where my $1000 is!!!
I’m feeling that I may have to get a lawyer involved to get my money back! Has anyone else have this same issue???
Please help!

Thanks for getting back to me, ok the general calls start with paypal, after talking to the general rep for 10 mins they can help so they say they are sending me up to product and side support, they look into things and everytime tell me according to their system the gift cards have been fully refunded, they then go on to tell me that since PayPal and eBay split as company's, they can no longer look up eBay gift cards to help me any further. They then transfer me to eBay because they as far as they can see the gift card was fully refunded on the 3-10-2016 so they transfer me to eBay, after talking to their 1st person, they send me up the line to the next eBay rep or send me back to PayPal.
According to eBay, we they have given me a hand full of excuses, I've been told it takes 4 hours for give cards to be refunded then get sent back to PayPal, I've been told 24hours to 10 days, I've been told 24hours to 10 bis days which would be tomorrow, I've been told that PayPal did refund, but for some reason eBay never lifted the hold on the cards, I've been told that PayPal didn't refund the money, I've been told that PayPal gave me a voucher and to look it up on PayPal to to get that money, so far no luck.
I've have PayPal supervisors call on three way call to eBay, somewhere during our conversation, the supervisors just disappear, I've been on with eBay supervisors oh have told be that they open a ticket and I would get a call back same day, never get a call back, when I call back in the next day, it's the same thing no one knows what's going on.
im considering opening up a lawsuit to get my money back, I really don't know why else to do?

Log in to your PayPal account and click on the refund to see the refund details. What does it say about the two $500 refunds?

When looking at the refund status, it says refund completed, under the details, it lists voucher refunded twice for both $500 gift cards, and gives two 16 digit voucher numbers. Now eBay coupon system only accepts 13digit numbers not 16 so I can use them to make a order, and the origanal gift cards (PayPal said it should have went back to) show a 0 balance

When you spoke with PayPal and eBay customer support, did you ask about the 16 digit voucher numbers which are shown on your refund details?
Try this... after logging in to your PayPal account, go here...

Do you see any redemption codes for the two $500 gift cards?

Hello Sandy,
Yes, PayPal mentioned that once a gift card is used, then returned it gets assigned a 16 digit voucher number, since the two company’s separated, the 16 digit voucher is more like a verification code, PayPal says and assured me that It goes right back to the original gift card.
The last eBay supervisor that I talked to on the 19th was trying to get me to this link that you just provided, the option wasn’t there for me to click. After looking on these forums for anybody else with the same issue, i ran upon the same link that you listed. Here is what it says when I click the link:
There are currently no redemption codes in your account
As of today there still is no balance on the gift cards according to eBay, they told me up to 10 business days (tomorrow) if still no funds tomorrow, I will be calling back in to talk to a supervisor once more.

Hello guys,
Ok as of today 3/23/2016 there are still no funds on both the gift cards, it’s now 11 business days after the supposed refund on the 10th.
I called into eBay and got a tier 1 rep (Jackie) who told me that it was PayPal’s issue that the funds where still not on the gift card, as she was ready to send me over to PayPal (here go’s the PayPal eBay cycle) I ask to have a supervisor, I got a wonderful sup that listened to my whole story and promised to walk me all the way though to resolve the issue (I will list the sups name after everything is resolved) telling my story to this eBay sup, they followed up with eBay’s resolution department, any they insisted that it was on PayPal’s side. So this eBay sup conferenced me on a three way call with PayPal, to make a long story short (two and half hours on the phone) we went through with a fight past tier 1 & 2 of PayPal, then a PayPal sup, then their boss before they decided to open a ticket on PayPal’s end.
That boss of the papal supervisor told us that she believes that the ticket isn’t going to get far because according to PayPal it was refunded and she thinks the techs are going to say that eBay is at fault that the money is still not on the gift card, she said that eBay should be the ones entering the ticket, according to the supervise with eBay that set the call with me, said that they are the ones that enter the ticket on ebay's side, and since there is no volume of calls on this issue (just me) that if they enter the ticket with ebay, they believe its going to get shot down because of no volume of calls for this particular problem.
They then went into reading the terms and conditions of their respectful companies to each other and came to the conclusion to wait until Saturday and see what comes out of the ticket with PayPal.
Before they both let me go, the PayPal boss said that she appreciates my patience with the problem and that I am going to be at the fore front of this issue because after the split of both companies, I’m the first one that they are running into this issue with. Down the road when anyone has this same issue, they are going to be referenced back to this situation.
They both promised to give me a call back on Saturday, but as of tonight my $1000 is still in limbo somewhere!
Dan
