airline tickets have been a pending charge for days

Bought tickets from United airline on Jan 3rd through PayPal. Charge still says pending waiting for United to process payment or accept payment. Called airline, says my tickets are confirmed and paid. Said I need to wait for an unspecified amount of time for the charge to go through but my tickets are “paid for”. How can this be if the charge is still pending. No money had been deducted from my checking account.

When you pay a seller it is never instant > paypal credit them for you and then paypal wait for your funds to transfer to paypal to reimburse them.

The transaction may be completed as the seller has been paid but the authorisation will complete when your funds hit paypal.

Funds can leave your funding source ie bank account from a few hours up to a few days later.
