Paypal shipping issue

I have bought my own scale and resorted to printing USPS postage thru Paypal. Well this weekend I had some items to get packed up and ship today.

I printed 1 label on March 2nd and 2 labels yesterday March 4th. I go to hand them to the lady in the window and she tells me if they aren't dated today she cannot take them

is there any truth to this? I have printed postage a day or so ahead of when I actually sent it. They were also paid for as well. She said maybe you can get a refund. Yeah maybe? I'm not about to lose $ based on maybe I can get a refund.

So did this lady know what she was talking about or not? I'm clearly quite annoyed by this. I bought my own scale to save on shipping not to get aggravated. No wonder USPS is so out of line. They charge exsorbant fees for slower service and employees who aren't all properly trained.

Should I look into how I get a refund or take them to another Post Office and try there?

Hi mws_1984,

Was she referring to the date the label was printed or the shipping/mailing date set when the label was printed?

I know that it can depend on which post office you go to.  I do know that all postal workers are advised to not accept a package if the ship date (shown as the "Mailing date" in PayPal) is in the past.

From the USPS website:

USPS
". . .If a customer presents a stale-dated online label at the retail counter (the date is earlier than the date of mailing), retail associates should advise the customer that a new label must be printed. The customer can request a refund for unused PC postage labels by going to the Online Postage Refund page. . ."

If you're not sure what date the item will be mailed, it's probably best to estimate a date further in the future to be safe.

Voiding a label and requesting a refund for labels printed with PayPal can be done within 48 hours of creating it. The void label button is in the transaction details for the payment to USPS.

I hope this helps to avoid this frustration in the future. 🙂

The shipping date come up incorrect when printed. It did this to me twice. I printed out a label choosing the 12th(Monday) and the date that came out on the lable is the 13th.
So, I thought ok maybe I goofed. Voided the first(which i don't think paypayl should charge for until it's correct, like the USPS does). Then I did the second one. Choosing the 12th again, by the way the dates I had in the drop down box were 3/11/2012, 3/11/2012, 3/12/2012, 3/13/2012.....yes that's correct there were two that showed for the 11th. So somenting is messed up.

I went to print the second one where I know I choose the 12th and the sample came up withe the date of the 13th again. I didn't print that just voided it. So how can we print these without loosing any money money?? yes, I did ask for a refund but it takes weeks and that's money i don't have  to put out for shipping.

Hi rhinestone,

That is very peculiar that it would change the date and show the same date twice.  As long as the date is in the future, it will be fine and you shouldn't need to void the label.  I wonder if the leap year is causing the issue.  Thanks for letting us know about the problem.

Another option you might be interested in is printing your label directly from USPS.com (assuming you're using USPS).  It's possible to pay for labels on USPS.com using your PayPal account.
