An update came through today for the android PayPal app on my tablet. One of the new permissions it is asking for is:
Hardware Controls
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Take pictures and videos
Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This
permission allows the app to use the camera at any time without
your confirmation.
Personally, I find that a little bit creepy and wanted to know why it needs the ability to do that. Does anyone know of a valid reason for that? And how can I be sure that the app does everything necessary to address privacy concerns that this causes to arise in my mind?

I was also getting ready to install paypal on my new phone and noticed that it wanted rights to my social information.
Why the hell a banking app needs rights to my social information, read phone status and identity, and access to my camera?
This is absolutely nonsense! Get your act together paypal.
