Selling large equipment

I have posted in classifieds 2 large pieces of machinery. I was contacted from a buyer. He would like to make payment through paypal. Then a moving company would come and move the equipmeny. I have never received money through paypal before. Its a large amount of money and i want to make sure we are both protected. How safe is this transaction?

you need tracking to prove you have delivered the item.

if $750 or more,signature confirmation.

Both must be viewable online.

If the moving company does not offer such,you would need to convince Paypal to accept paper work which prove you have delivered the machines and they were signed for.

If it does have online viewable tracking,

 tracking is often done by Paypal robot which will go to the popular sites such as USPS,UPS,FED Exp looking for your tracking number,so you will have to make special effort to give them the site of the moving company so they will go and verify there.

If they file item not as described,Paypal will lock up your money until they return the item with tracking and signature confirmation and it could take a long time from getting PAYPAL to decide the case and item finally returned.

I would ask for cash on pickup,how much is involved?

Some could ask for a small deposit via PAYPAL and the rest is cashier check or cash .

If you decide on PAYPAL,you may want to ask if there will be a hold on his payment if you dont have a history of accepting large payment

Go to Ebay community-there is a seller forum and choose category - Ebay motors and ask your question there.

They will offer their opinion as most are buyers and sellers of auto and other equipments .

If the moving company comes,would they ask you for the title ?

Some would not pick up the vehicle unless they have the title.

Its not a vehicle. Its a milling machine and a lathe.

The amount is $5500. And the items weigh 3000 pounds. So a mover is the only option. I think he is using a credit card for the payment which is why he wants to use paypal. It will be moved 1000 miles.
